Vijayawada Member of Parliament Lagadapati Rajgopal, on Sunday, alleged that some vested elements in the Telangana region have made the Group-1 preliminary examination a controversial issue by painting it with a 'regional' colour.
Talking to media persons, Lagadapati charged that some vested elements were seeking a postponement of the examination in order to settle political scores and to get political mileage over the issue.
Expressing serious concern over genuine aspirants, the MP from Vijayawada said mischievous elements were talking without any knowledge of mathematics and wisdom, and spoiling the chances of bright candidates by demanding a postponement of the exam.
"The recruitment of Group-1 posts will not be conducted on a region-wise basis. The recruitments will be conducted on a zone-wise basis. The 6th zone has got more posts in recruitments than is proportionate to its population," he pointed out.
Lagadapati thanked Chief Minister K Rosaiah for conducting the examination in a peaceful manner.
"This shows his grip on the administration," he said.
He also thanked the police for effectively preventing any untoward incidents while the examinations were being conducted despite the hostile atmosphere in Telangana region.
