Assembly Speaker Nadendla Manohar, on Wednesday, stated that the MLAs and MLCs will soon draft an Araku declaration which will highlight the problems of tribals in the agency areas.
Talking to media persons, after the completion of a 3-day training session for the newly-elected MLAs at Araku in Visakhapatnam district, Nadendla Manohar stated that the tour yielded the desired results.
He said the members have studied the plight of the Girijans through direct interaction.
The MLAs, he said, have decided to fully utilize their hour to question, in the Assembly, and take part in a healthy discussion on the people's grievances.
Apart from a discussion on the bauxite mining permits, the MLAs have decided to release Rs. 6 crore from the constituency fund to fund the provision of facilities and infrastructure in the tribal areas.
The Speaker stated that the MLAs have resolved to appeal to the government for an additional Rs. 800 crore to fund the provision of basic facilities for the tribals.
The MLAs, in the Araku declaration, have proposed to the government to launch the "Girikiranalu" program to eradicate unemployement in agency areas.
In an effort to tackle viral disease and other diseases, he said the government would release Rs. 30 crore and have the ITDA implement all the welfare programs.
The Speaker also said that department-wise standing committees will soon be appointed to redress problems. (INN)
