The Andhra Pradesh Sadhu Parishad has objected to the decision of the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthamas (TTD) to get into the business of manufacturing incense sticks.
The president of the organization, Srinivasananda Saraswathi, asked if the TTD was a religious organization or a business.
He alleged that the TTD manufacturing incense sticks was against Hindu religious scriptures, and that the commercial interests of the organisation would harm the sacredness of the Tirumala temple.
He also asked why the money belonging to the temple was not being given for the construction of more temples.
He said that the TTD had increasingly become a burden on the Hindu society, and claimed that a conspiracy was being hatched to take the presiding deity of the temple from his devotees.
He also alleged that the TTD had lost its stature after being taking over by its current chairman Y V Subba Reddy, and called upon the Hindus of the state to teach a befitting lesson to the Y S Jaganmohan Reddy-led state government.
