Senior YSR Congress Party leader, former MP and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Jaganmohan Reddy's maternal uncle Y V Subba Reddy took charge as Chairman of the Tirumala-Tirupati Devasthanam on Saturday morning.
The post holds cabinet rank, and is coveted.
Deputy Chief Minister Narayana Swamy, senior YSR Congress Party leader and Rajya Sabha MP V Vijayasai Reddy, former MP Mekapati Rajamohan Reddy, adviser to CM Sajjala Ramakrishna Reddy, Legislative Council Whip Ummareddy Venkateswarlu, Chief Whip Srikanth Reddy, MLAs Bhumana Karunakar Reddy and Ravindranath Reddy, and Telugu film producer Dil Raju were present on the occasion.
It may be recalled that after the YSR Congress Party wrested power from the TDP in Andhra Pradesh, most people holding nominated positions have resigned from their posts, barring TTD Chairman Sudhakar Yadav. However, after statements by the Endownments Minister that an ordinance would be passed to remove the entire board, Yadav resigned, following which Subba Reddy, whose name had been finalized by Jaganmohan Reddy for the position, assumed charge on Saturday morning.
Subba Reddy refuted allegations on the social media that he was a converted Christian (Jagan is a Christian).
