Congress, TDP Emerge Victorious In Municipal Polls
The Congress emerged victorious in the municipal elections in Telangana, while its performance in the Seemandhra region, dominated by the TDP, has been dismal.

The Congress party emerged victorious in the municipal elections in Telangana, while its performance in the Seemandhra region has expectedly been dismal.
Of the 56 municipalities (governing bodies for cities/towns with lesser than 10 lakhs in population) and 3 corporations (governing bodies for cities with over 10 lakhs in population) that went to the polls, the Congress won 16 municipalities, the TRS won 9, and the TDP-BJP combine got 7. While other parties won 2 municipalities, the result was hung in as many as 19 municipalities.
The Congress party won 43 divisions and 507 wards, followed by the TRS which won 39 divisions and 305 wards. The TDP was able to win just 1 division and 156 wards.
In the Seemandhra region, 92 municipalities and 7 corporations went to the polls. Of them, the TDP won 62 municipalities, the YSRCP won 18, and 11 municipalities received a hung result. While the TDP won 5 corporations, the YSRCP won the Kadapa and Nellore municipal corporations.
The TDP won a total of 117 divisions and 1,161 wards. The YSRCP won 66 divisions and 799 wards, while the Congress could win only 3 divisions and 35 wards. The BJP won from 1 division and 9 wards in the Seemandhra region. (INN)
