A delegation of members of the Federation of Senior Citizens Organisation (FESCO) presented a memorandum to TDP president N Chandrababu Naidu at his residence, on Tuesday, to include the organisation in the party's manifesto for the forthcoming general elections.
The contents of the memorandum were framed to facilitate the process of senior citizens getting peaceful, dignified and protected lives.
Among the facilities and welfare measures that the members of FESCO sought for inclusion in the party's manifesto are enhancement of old-age pension, extension of bus fare concessions in APSRTC, implementation of Maintenance and Welfare of Parents and Senior Citizens Act, 2007, in letter and spirit, formation of a budget exclusively for senior citizens, establishment of old age homes, and so on.
Naidu reacted favorably and agreed to include all of FESCO's suggestions in their manifesto.
He further opined that there is a necessity for establishing old age homes in all the 294 assembly constituencies.
The delegation comprised of FESCO president V Mohan Reddy, general secretary P Kanakaratnam and others. (INN)
