Guntur Congress MP Rayapati Sambasiva Rao, on Tuesday, stated that a decision on the expansion of Cabinet will be taken in the last week of October.
Talking to media persons after a discussion with Chief Minister K Rosaiah, Rayapati attributed the reason for the delay in the Cabinet expansion to the political crisis in the BJP-ruled state of Karnakata.
The MP's statement assumes significance, coming as it does after his Monday's call to Chief Minister Rosaiah to make way for others if he was not in a position to initiate action against 'corrupt ministers'.
That statement had raised a hue and cry among the party cadre, who demanded that he withdraw the comments immediately.
A section of Congress MLAs demanded that the high command initiate disciplinary action against Rao for his comments.
They said the MP should have submitted the list of 'corrupt ministers' to the Chief Minister instead of making comments in public.
