AP's New Capital May Be Named Amaravati

Though the state government is yet to make an announcement, Andhra Pradesh CM Chandrababu Naidu has reportedly decided to give the new capital that name.

The new capital of Andhra Pradesh may be named "Amaravati".

Although the state government is yet to make an official announcement, Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu has reportedly decided to give the new capital that name.

The government is also proposing to seek the public's opinion on it, and the process has already begun through the TDP legislators.

Amaravati, in Sanskrit, literally means "abode of immortals", and one of the districts of Maharashtra has the name. (INN)
