Union Minister of State for Culture, Planning and Parliamentary Affairs V Narayanasamy on Thursday told the Rajya Sabha that the Central Vigilance Commission, on the occasion of the Vigilance Awareness Week, has started a toll-free anti-corruption hotline with the phone number 1800-11-1180, with 10 dedicated lines.
He said that the hotline has been set up in order to make it easy for citizens to lodge complaints against corruption, and also so as to serve as a deterrent for the delinquents.
For this purpose, 10 dedicated phone lines have been installed in the Commission for lodging of complaints by citizens. These complaints will be forwarded to the Chief Vigilance Officer / Competent Authority concerned for necessary action and report.
The Central Vigilance Commission's toll-free number will be accessible to all citizens in all the States and Union Territories of the country. There is no proposal to install separate facilities in the States/UTs, Mr. Narayansamy stated.
