Two Armed Reserve Sub-Inspectors (AR SIs) working at the Cyber Crime police station under the Malkajgiri Police Commissionerate were today caught by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) while allegedly accepting a Rs 1 lakh bribe at L B Nagar.
The accused officers - Pramod Goud and Jatavath Baby Naik - were trapped by the ACB City Range-II unit at L B Nagar Chowrastha after they allegedly demanded Rs 1,00,000 from a complainant.
The bribe was sought to extend an official favour by issuing a notice under Section 35 of the BNSS (earlier Section 41-A of the CrPC) instead of arresting the complainant in a cyber crime.
According to the ACB officials, Naik accepted the bribe amount on behalf of Goud and himself. The tainted cash of Rs 1 lakh was recovered from his possession.
Both officers were arrested and will be produced before the I Additional Special Judge for SPE and ACB Cases at Nampally for judicial remand. The case is under investigation.
The identity of the complainant has been withheld for security reasons.
The ACB has urged the public to report any demand for bribes by public servants through its toll-free helpline, 1064.
