Tension prevailed in the Osmania University campus for several hours on Tuesday, after the police prevented students from taking out a rally to mark the AP Formation Day as "Betrayal Day".
Hundreds of students under the banner of Telangana Rashtra Samithi's Students Wing gathered at the Arts College, while raising "Jai Telangana" slogans.
They also shouted slogans against an integrated Andhra Pradesh and also the state and central governments. They then started proceeding towards Gun Park at the Assembly.
However, the police had erected blockades at the NCC Gate, preventing students from proceeding further. Some students threw stones at the police personnel.
The police used tear gas shells to control the situation. This continued for several hours, and by evening, the situation returned to normal. (INN)
