Former nominated MLA in the Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly Della Godfrey passed away while undergoing treatment in Apollo Hospital at Hyderguda on Tuesday morning.
She was 62.
Godfrey suffered a cardiac stroke six days back, and breathed her last at 6:30 am today, her family members said.
Godfrey was nominated to the Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly twice, and continued as an MLA till 2004. She was a popular person, who strove for the welfare of not only the Anglo-Indian community but all citizens.
Her mother Marjorie Godfrey was also a nominated member of the A P Legislative Assembly, and also of Parliament.
Born and brought up in Hyderabad, Della Godfrey studied in Rosary Convent and graduated from the University College for Women in Koti, and was a quintessential Hyderabadi.
The mass will be held at St. Joseph's Cathedral in Gunfoundry at 3:30 pm on Wednesday. Her funeral will be held at the Catholic Cemetery, Narayanguda, later.
Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao expressed deep condolences over the demise of Godfrey, and recalled the services of the late former nominated MLA fondly.
