The Andhra Pradesh government has set the stage to distribute pensions in the state.
State rural development and panchayat raj minister P Ramachandra Reddy said that the government had made all the arrangements necessary to distribute the pensions.
He said that the pension scheme, YSR Pension Kanuka, would commence on November 1, and pensions would be given to 61.65 lakh people of the state through the village volunteers.
He said that the government had issued orders to spend Rs 1,497.88 crore to implement the scheme, and that pensions had been sanctioned for 34,907 people in the ongoing month under the scheme.
The 2.52 lakh volunteers of the state will distribute the pensions to the beneficiaries.
The state government will also give welfare pensions to 847 ex-servicemen through volunteers from this month, and has released Rs 42 lakh for these.
