The AP government has released Rs 158 crore to the farmers of the capital city.
The amount was released towards the payment of the land cess and the pensions due to the farmers who had given their lands for the construction of the capital.
State Municipal Administration and Urban Development Minister Botsa Satyanarayana revealed this in a statement.
He said that the amount would be credited into the accounts of the farmers.
He expressed his anger over the protest programs being held by opposition leaders for the delay in the payment of the money. He said that although the amount was credited into the bank accounts of the farmers on Wednesday, there was a delay in it reflecting in their accounts due to some technical problems.
He alleged that the opposition parties were trying to instigate the people of the state despite knowing the problem that resulted in the delay.
The minister said that the farmers who had sold their land rights would not get the land cess amount.
He also said that the state government wanted to increase the pension of the farmers of the capital to Rs 5,000 per month, but that that proposal was stalled as the opposition parties had approached the High Court on the issue.
