Andhra Pradesh Registers First Case Under Disha Act
The first Disha police station set up by AP for protecting women registered its first case today and arrested a person who assaulted a woman in Vijayawada.
The first Disha police station set up by the Andhra Pradesh government for protection of women against sexual offenses, registered its first case today and arrested a person who assaulted a woman in Vijayawada today.
The police arrested the culprit with the help of the Disha app.
The accused allegedly assaulted a woman traveling from Visakhapatnam to Vijayawada. The police swung into action immediately upon receiving a complaint through SOS at 4:21 am. The call of the victim was registered at the Mangalagiri Disha call centre. Acting upon this, the Eluru police arrested the accused within six minutes of receiving the call.
"The police lodged an FIR at the Eluru Three Town police station upon the complaint of a female traveler," said Dipika Patil, DIG.
