The
statement of IAS officials, that they were being harassed by certain ministers, has evoked a mixed response from political circles.
Congress MP Undavalli Arun Kumar slammed the IAS officials for trying to shift the blame of irregilarities onto ministers. He said that large-scale corruption or irregularities in any department were not possible without the nexus of babus and the ministers concerned. Therefore, it was wrong on the part of the IAS officials to blame the ministers, he said.
Although rules and regulations are framed by the elected representatives, they are implemented by the IAS officials, Undavalli said, adding that feigning ignorance about misdoings in their department was ridiculous.
The IAS officials have ignored the basic fundamentals of Indian Administrative Service by speaking out in the open about the issue, he alleged.
BJP State unit president G Kishan Reddy asked why the IAS officials did not use their powers when certain ministers were indulging in corruption.
He described the IAS officials' protest as "childish", and demanded that the CBI take action against both the IAS officials and the minister who were involved in corruption.
TDP leader Yanamala Ramakrishnudu alleged that the "big fish" that the IAS officials have referred to was none other that YSR Congress party president Y S Jaganmohan Reddy.
He said that the IAS officials had never faced problems during the TDP's rule, and that they have now been facing serious allegations of corruption, with a few of them having even landed in prison due to the Congress' corrupt practices. (INN)
