Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy, on Tuesday, reviewed the drought situation in various districts of the state with Revenue Minister N Raghuveera Reddy, Finance Minister Anam Ramnarayan Reddy, Disaster Management Commissioner and other senior officials.
After a drought declaration, a report is to be submitted to the Union Ministry of Agriculture, seeking Central assistance.
In accordance with those Central government guidelines, the CM asked the Revenue Department to immediately send the drought memorandum to the Centre.
Based on the detailed reports of the District Collectors, 876 Mandals have already been declared drought-affected.
According to the Joint Enumeration Reports of the Agriculture and Revenue departments, an estimated 34.24 lakh hectares have sustained drought-related damages.
As many as 51.53 lakh farmers in the 876 mandals have been affected.
About 45,912.27 hectares of fruit and vegetable crops have been affected in 10 districts. (INN)
