BRS chief K Chandrashekar Rao today gave a call to the farmers to be prepared to launch a fight against the State government for "ignoring their problems".

He claimed that the Congress government would not be able to save the lives of the farmers after first drying up their green crops, and that the farmers should be ready for a war with the State government to divert the Kaleshwaram waters to their fields.

KCR made these remarks during his interaction with the farmers of Karimnagar district as part of a his field visit program to inspect the dry crops and reassure the farmers.

On the occasion, he met the farmers of Maqdoompur village. The farmers whose crops had dried up spoke to KCR and expressed their anguish. They said that their crops had gone dry even after sowing seeds and fertilizers and after spending up to Rs 40,000 per acre. They complained that the Congress, which had been voted to power for water, had now changed its word. They lamented that there used to be knee-deep mud in the same field, and that now the red chilli crop had dried up.

KCR rued that the crops had not received a single release of water. "If only one last water release had happened, thousands of tons of crops would have been harvested in hundreds of thousands of acres," he said.

He added that the Congress government had no plans to give water to the drying crops, and appealed to the farmers to fight for water for their crops. "You have to be ready to fight for it. Don't let yourself lose heart under any circumstances. When we get elections, let's have 10,000 farmers go to Medigadda. Let's see how the water from there does not reach our fields. You have to be ready for the fight," he said.
