All commercial establishments, educational institutions, government offices, banks, hotels and petrol filling stations remained closed, and the APSRTC buses were off the road. The bandh was observed peacefully and no untoward incident was reported from anywhere, the police said.
The bandh call was supported by the main opposition party the YSR Congress and the Jana Sena party, and had the tacit backing of even the ruling TDP.
