Elaborate arrangements have been made for the election of a 15-member standing committee to the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC), that will take place on Friday.
17 candidates are in the fray for the 15 posts of members of the GHMC Standing Committee.
With the Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen and the Congress continuing their alliance, the combine is all set to maintain its dominance on the Standing Committee for the 5th consecutive year. While the Congress has fielded 8 candidates, the MIM has nominated 7 corporators for the elections.
The MIM candidates are Abdul Qavi Ansari, MA Gaffar, Md Farooquddin, Mir Wajid Ali Khan, Mohsin Bin Abdullah Balala, Dr Mohd Yousuf Naqshbandi and V Bhanumathi. The Congress corporators in the fray are A Krishna, Anil Singh D, J Devanand, A Mahesh Yadav, M Ranga Rao, J Satyanaryana, C Sunitha and Mohammed Wajid Hussain.
BJP corporator K Uma Rani and TDP corporator Singireddy Dhanpal Reddy are also in the fray. (INN)
