Congress Crossing Limits To Win Jubilee Hills: BJP

Union minister Kishan Reddy alleged that the Congress was resorting to lies, deceit and intimidation to win the by-election.
Hyderabad | 2nd November 2025
Telangana BJP leader and Union Minister G Kishan Reddy today launched a scathing attack on Chief Minister Revanth Reddy and the Congress, accusing them of crossing all limits in their bid to win the Jubilee Hills Assembly by-election.

Addressing a press conference at the BJP State office, the BJP leader alleged that the Congress was resorting to lies, deceit and intimidation to secure victory.

He said that the ruling party had even fielded a Majlis-backed candidate and appointed cricketer Mohammed Azharuddin as a minister as part of its political strategy.

"On the very day the by-election was announced, under pressure from the MIM, valuable Army land was allotted for a graveyard in Mehdipatnam, and another plot was sanctioned between the colonies and bastis in Erragadda. And while appeasing one community thus, the government is threatening others. The Peddamma temple in Banjara Hills was demolished and the idol of the goddess was stolen, and the same government that refused to allocate land for the temple readily granted acres for the graveyard," he alleged.

The Union minister also accused the Congress of conspiring to mislead voters by spreading falsehoods. He condemned the Chief Minister's alleged warning to the ration cardholders that they would be denied premium rice if they failed to vote for the Congress. "It is shameful for a Chief Minister to threaten voters like this. Is the rice being given with the Congress funds? It is a Central government scheme implemented across the country. The Centre bears Rs 42 per kg for rice distribution, while the State contributes only Rs 15. If the CM has the courage, let him cancel the scheme and see the result. We have lodged a complaint with the Election Commission over his remarks, which clearly violate the Model Code of Conduct," he said.

Reddy also accused the State government of spreading misinformation about the Hyderabad Metro Rail project. "Let the government clarify whether it has taken over the project from L&T and whether it has completed the DPR for the proposed expansion. Without these, they are levelling baseless allegations. It is unbecoming of a Chief Minister to resort to such theatrics - even throwing clothes at me," he said.

He said that the BJP had decided to conduct 50 "Mahapadayatras" across Telangana to expose both the failures of the BRS and the frauds of the Congress. "We will go door to door to tell people how the Modi government has contributed to Telangana and how these parties have deceived them," he said.
