Akbaruddin Owaisi Slams Government Over Minority Welfare
The AIMIM floor leader in the Telangana Assembly alleged that the state government was not giving a single penny to the State Minority Finance Corporation.
Hyderabad | 9th March 2022
AIMIM floor leader in the Telangana Assembly Akbaruddin Owaisi today came down heavily on the state government and alleged that it was not giving a single penny to the State Minority Finance Corporation for the welfare of the minority communities for the last three years.
Owaisi made these remarks while taking part in a discussion on the annual budget of the state government.
Alleging that the state government was ignoring the problems of the minority community in the state, Owaisi unfurled a litany of woes.
He said that the government had not fulfilled its promise of shifting all minority welfare departments to a building abutting the Haj House in the city so far, and that the government had not even completed the construction of the said building yet.
He also said that the government had sanctioned 10 acres of land for an Islamic centre, but that the construction works of the centre had not yet begun.
He pointed out that all these promises had been made by Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao on the floor of the House, and asked the CM why he was making promises when he was not capable of keeping them.
Referring to the announcement made by the CM on the filling of more than 80,000 vacant government jobs, he expressed doubt over whether the state government would actually fill them. He also lamented that the TSPSC did not have a single Muslim member. He added that there was also not a single Muslim public pleader, and that no Muslim pleader had any place in the State Minorities Commission. He also said that there was no Muslim Vice-Chancellor for any of the universities in the state. He asked whether there were no qualified Muslims to take up any of those posts, and termed it as quite unfortunate.
Targeting the state government over the protection of Waqf properties, Owaisi alleged that the same TRS which had gone to court for the protection of the Waqf properties before coming into power was now claiming that the Waqf properties belonged to the state government.
Owaisi however made it clear that the AIMIM would continue to work with the TRS, and predicted that the TRS would retain power after the next Assembly elections.
