Following Home Minister Sabitha Indra Reddy's directive on Sunday that a Central Crime Station (CCS) investigation be conducted into MIM MLA
Akbaruddin Owaisi's attack, city Police Commissioner A K Khan had informed the media that he would lead a special team including 3 DGPs for investigating the case.
On Monday morning, A K Khan revealed to the media that 11 of the 15 assailants had been identified thus far. 4 of the assilants, including the main accused Mohammed Pahalwan, were arrested on Saturday, while 5 others surrendered themselves to the police on Monday. Khan confidently stated that all the others involved in the incident would also be taken into custody, latest by Tuesday.
The clash that severely injured Akbaruddin and killed Ibrahim, the nephew of the alleged master-mind of the attack, Mohammed Pahalwan, was a result of long-standing land disputes between Akbaruddin and Pahalwan.
The MIM MLA was on a drive to clear the encroachers of government and Wakf lands in various parts of the Old City, and build homes for those displaced by the government on those lands.
The government had earlier displaced a number of poor families from their homes stating that they were residing on government lands, and alloted to them residential units far away from the Old City. Akbaruddin opined that the displaced need not be distanced from the Old City, when there were lands available within the locality.
Akbaruddin persuaded the officials of the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) to remove those illegally occupying lands in atleast 6 localities in the Chandrayangutta constituency.
It was an argument that erupted between the family of Pahalwan and Akbaruddin, with the latter insisting that the former evacuate their house, that set off the attacks on Saturday.
Coming to the all-important question of the leader's health, Owaisi's condition is stable according to the health bulletin released by Care Hospital at 11am on Monday. Akbaruddin is still undergoing dialysis due to his damaged left kidney.
The supporters of Owaisi flocked to Care Hospital in Banjara Hills after his elder brother
Asaduddin Owaisi expressed concern over the then deteriorating health condition of the MLA on Sunday morning.
Akbaruddin's supporters could be seen gathered in large numbers outside Care Hospital till late Sunday evening, alongside the numerous TV vans parked outside the hospital. Children could be heard shouting slogans in support of Akbaruddin, and youngsters were seen trying to scale the compound wall of the hospital.
Atleast 5 trucks of Rapid Action Force (RAF) personnel, all of whom were armed and ready to act, were seen parked outside the hospital on Sunday evening.
However, things seem to have quietened down after the medical bulletin released by the doctors of Care Hospital on Sunday evening stated that the
condition of Akbaruddin was stable. No RAF truck was visible outside Care Hospital this morning.
