Venkat Reddy will replace Venkatagiri as the Circle Inspector (CI) of Chandrayangutta, Hyderabad Police Commissioner A K Khan announced on Thursday.
Venkatagiri is being transferred for allegedly not acting deftly at the time of
MIM MLA Akbarudddin Owaisi being attacked last Saturday (April 30th), in the Barkas area of the Old City. The police personnel accompanying the MLA reportedly remained silent spectators at the time of the attack, and video evidences show that the police did not even help the Muslim leader's supporters in rushing him to the Owaisi Hospital.
The Chandrayangutta MLA was undertaking a padayatra when he was stabbed and shot at, and is undergoing treatment at Care Hospital in Banjara Hills at present. His health condition is stable, and he had gained consciousness on Tuesday.
It took 2 operations to take out 3 of the 4 bullets that were lodged in his body, and the 4th one, that is beside his kidney, will remain in his body, as removing it is a tricky task.
The supporters of Akbaruddin maintained vigil outside the hospital in large numbers, and put up banners that wished him speedy recovery along the compound wall, and on poles outside the hospital. After he gained consiousness, the crowds thinned considerably, and normalcy was restored to the region.
Meanwhile, the special CCS team headed by A K Khan, that was formed to nab Owaisi's assailants, presented 7 assailants in a city court, where they were remanded to 2 weeks' judicial custody and sent to Cherlapally prison.
