KCR Wants To Shield Land Sharks: T-Congress
The Telangana Congress suspects the Chief Minister is using poor people as a smokescreen to help the land grabbers through a regularisation drive.
Hyderabad | 10th December 2014
Telangana Congress spokesperson G Niranjan on Wednesday alleged that Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao was trying to help the land sharks by using poor people as a smokescreen.
Speaking to media persons at Gandhi Bhavan, Niranjan said that although the Congress was in favour of regularisation of lands being possessed by poor people, it suspected that the Chief Minister was using those poor people as a cover to benefit the land grabbers through a regularisation drive.
He demanded that the government submit the entire list of those who had encroached upon government lands before the next all-Party meeting to be held on December 16.
He also alleged that the State Government's main motive was not the protection of government lands, but fund-raising to implement various schemes announced by KCR.
The Congress leader also rejected the proposal for the construction of a Vinayak Sagar for the immersion of Ganesh idols.
He said a small tank could never act as a replacement for the Hussain Sagar for the immersion of thousands of Ganesh idols.
He said that before speaking to the Opposition Parties, the Chief Minister should consult the officials concerned and other stakeholders, on the issue.
Niranjan also demanded that the Chief Minister undertake an aerial survey of the proposed Metro Rail route before taking a final decision.
He ridiculed the contention of the Hyderabad Metro Rail authorities that they were yet to take up the survey of the metro rail route in the Old City.
He asked how the HMR officials had finalised the corridor before conducting the survey.
He alleged that the HMR officials were making statements at the behest of the MIM, and were indirectly supporting it to change the Metro Rail alignment.
He also alleged that the MIM was not serious in the development of the Old City, and that that was the reason it wanted to deprive the people there of the benefits of the Metro Rail project. (INN)
