Majlis Ittehadul Muslimeen (MIM) leader and Chandrayangutta MLA Akbaruddin Owaisi, who was hospitalised after being
attacked on April 30th while undertaking a padayatra in the Barkas region of the Old City, was discharged from the Care Hospital in Banjara Hills on Friday.
Having undergone 2 surgeries to have 3 of the 4 bullets taken during the attack removed, the MIM leader recuperated from the injuries sustained in 20 days. The doctors stated that he was healthy, and permitted him to leave the hospital.
Akbaruddin was hospitalised on 30th April in the Owaisi Hospital in Malakpet, and was later shifted to the Care Hospital in Banjara Hills. His supporters had gathered outside whichever hospital he was in, and maintained vigil.
The day after the MLA was shifted to the Care Hospital, the region outside the hospital was transformed into a billboard that advertised the concern of the people of Old City for their leader.
A sea of supporters, both young and old, gathered outside the hospital every day for almost a week, praying for the health of the attacked leader.
Rapid Action Force and Hyderabad Police personnel was deployed by the dozen at the hospital, prepared to quell any disturbances.
After the condition of Akbaruddin was declared to be out of danger, the crowds, and consequently the police forces, thinned gradually.
Akbaruddin Owaisi left the hospital to the cheer of his supporters gathered outside the hospital, surrounding his vehicle.
