The Nirmal Court has adjourned to Friday the hearing on a petition moved by the Nirmal Police seeking the custody of MIM leader Akbaruddin Owaisi for questioning in the hate speech case.
Earlier on today, Akbaruddin Owaisi's lawyers filed the counter against the police petition wherein it sought Akbar's seven-day custody for further investigation. However, the court has adjourned further hearing in the case to Friday. The hearing on a petition seeking Special Prisoner Status to Akbaruddin Owaisi is also likely to come up for hearing on Friday.
It may be mentioned that the MIM legislator, who was arrested by the Nirmal Police on Tuesday, was remanded to 14 days judicial custody a court on Wednesday. Besides sedition, Akbar has been charged with six other offences under the IPC.
Earlier, the court had rejected Akbar's petition seeking his shifting from Adilabad District Jail to Chanchalguda Central Jail in view of his ill-health. However, the court directed the police ensure proper treatment to the MIM MLA. (INN)
