The All India Engineering Entrance Examination (AIEEE) papers were leaked on Sunday morning, and the examinations were conducted 2 hours after the scheduled time on the same day.
Uttar Pradesh Special DGP (Law and Order) Brijlal reportedly stated that the AIEEE question papers were sold for upto Rs. 6 lakhs in the Lucknow market, and that the Uttar Pradesh Special Task Force has arrested 4 people in connection with the paper leak so far.
Brijlal had stated that those involved in the AIEEE question paper leak were from Uttar Pradesh and Bihar, and that efforts were on to nab all those involved in the leakage.
The AIEEE examination comprises 2 papers - one for Bachelor of Engineering (B. E.) aspirants and the other for those intending to pursue Bachelor of Architecture (B. Arch.). The examination for B. E. hopefuls that was scheduled to begin at 9:30am was postponed to 12pm, and the examination for B. Arch. aspirants that was to be conducted at 2pm was held at 4pm.
Around 12 lakhs students had appeared for the AIEEE exams at 1,600 centres in 80 cities across the country.
At many centres in the state, the students had already filled out their personal details on their answer forms, and had answered some questions, when the college authorities rushed into the examination halls to stop the exam.
The question papers were taken back, and the students were asked to leave the campuses. The parents who were waiting outside the examination centres for their wards were shocked when they saw the students emerge from their exam halls soon after the commencement of the exam.
