The Telangana ACB conducted surprise raids at the office of the Municipal Commissioner, Miryalaguda Municipality, and unearthed large-scale irregularities.
Hyderabad | 8th May 2026
The Telangana Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) today conducted surprise raids at the office of the Municipal Commissioner, Miryalaguda Municipality, in Nalgonda district, and unearthed large-scale irregularities, poor record maintenance, revenue leakages and procedural lapses.

The ACB DSP Nalgonda Range along with his team carried out inspections on May 7 and scrutinized records, financial transactions, pending applications and functioning of the civic body.

The ACB found that against a tax assessment of Rs 24.86 crore during 2025-26, the municipality had collected only Rs 9.17 crore, leaving arrears of Rs 15.68 crore.

In commercial tax collections too the officials found serious shortfalls. There were 1,756 shops in 2025-26, and dues of Rs 14.95 lakh remained unpaid, and in 2026-27, there were 1,783 shops and arrears mounted to Rs 21.17 lakh.

The bureau also detected large-scale pendency in public services. Around 116 birth applications and one death application exceeded the stipulated seven-day processing period, and 1,820 Cheyuta pension applications remained pending.

In the Town Planning section, 54 complaints related to unauthorized constructions were pending without action despite notices being issued. Building permission revenue also declined from Rs 3.29 crore in 2024-25 to Rs 3.05 crore in 2025-26.

The inspection also revealed that 4,638 Layout Regularisation Scheme (LRS) applications were pending, with nearly Rs 15 crore yet to be realized.

The ACB officials also found serious discrepancies in mutation applications and approval records, poor maintenance of registers, absence of log books for municipal vehicles and lack of documentation for fuel expenditure claims of nearly Rs 19.33 lakh per month.

The bureau stated that the personal cash register was not maintained, making accountability difficult. Salary records also allegedly showed full payments to outsourcing employees despite attendance registers marking them absent on several days.

During the raid, Deputy Executive Engineer Bolugun Venkanna was found absent without authorization.

The ACB said that a detailed report would be submitted to the government recommending necessary action against the officials concerned.
