Engineer-in-Chief (EIC) of the Telangana Panchayat Raj engineering department Veeravalli Kanakaratnam was today caught red-handed by officials of the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB), City Range-II Unit.
He was allegedly caught demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 50,000 from a complainant in exchange for facilitating their transfer and posting within the department.
The tainted money was recovered from his possession during the trap operation, confirming the allegations.
According to ACB officials, the accused officer misused his official position and performed his public duty in a corrupt and dishonest manner.
Following the operation, Kanakaratnam was arrested and is being produced before the Special Court for ACB Cases. He will be sent to judicial remand, pending further investigation.
The ACB has reiterated its commitment to maintaining transparency and accountability in public service, and encouraged citizens to report any incidents of corruption through its helpline and online platforms.
