74,23,980 Voters To Exercise Franchise In GHMC Elections

GHMC Election Authority Dr B Janardhan Reddy today said that a total of 74,23,980 voters were enrolled for the upcoming elections to the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation.

Speaking to mediapersons on Saturday, Reddy said that there were 39,69,007 male voters, 34,53,910 female voters and 1,063 other voters in the list.

Voters could download their voters' slip through a mobile app created by the GHMC, he informed. He requested them to go to the Google Play Store and type "tsec space voter slip" and download the said app. They would need to type their voter ID whereupon they would get the ward name, polling station centre, voter serial number and other related information.

Reddy said that around 1,25,000 people had downloaded this app in only one day. To increase the poll percentage the GHMC has introduced a special ringtone. A separate stall will be also arranged at the All India Industrial Exhibition to enhance awareness among the citizens. The GHMC is involving various civic societies, residential welfare associations and NGOs in its campaign to improve the poll percentage, and to this effect a meeting is being conducted with all the organisations on January 18 at 4pm at Panwar Hall in the GHMC Head Office at Tank Bund.

As per the directions of the Election Commission of India, the GHMC had removed 42,344 posters, 32,942 banners, 37,800 flexes and 5,265 cutouts today, Reddy informed.
