The monsoon remained active during the last one week over Telangana with excess rainfall (+36%) received.
There was surplus rainfall of 17% from June 1 to 21.
Adding to the monsoon showers, a depression over northwest Bay Of Bengal, Odisha and neighbourhood during the week resulted in light to moderate rainfall at most places, with isolated heavy rainfall at a few places over the state.
The highest rainfall during the week, of 93 mm, was recorded at Kothaguda (Mahabubabad) on July 17. Madhira (Khammam) recorded 92.3 mm on July 18.
Based on the weather model run at TSDPS and on other available numerical guidance from national centres (including IMD), indications are that the prevailing subdued monsoon conditions over the state, due to the shifting of the active monsoon conditions to the northern parts of the country, are expected to continue till July 25. Subsequently the rains are expected to improve due to the possibility of the formation of a low pressure area over northwest Bay Of Bengal during the 2nd half of the week.
In general, the overall rainfall is likely to be slightly below normal over the state during the next week (July 22 to 28). All the 31 districts will see light to moderate rainfall at a few places.
