35% Pay Hike For Telangana Electricity Employees
Telangana CM K Chandrashekar Rao announced sops to electricity employees of the state in the form of a pay hike of 35% and a promise of a suitable healthcare scheme.
Ahead of the much-awaited Pragathi Nivedana Sabha meeting, Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao today announced sops to electricity employees of the state in the form of a pay hike of 35% (through the PRC) and a promise of a suitable healthcare scheme.
This indicates that the government plans to extend a 35% PRC salary hike to all departments.
Addressing the electricity employees who thronged Pragathi Bhavan in large numbers, in the presence of CMD Prabhakar Rao, the Chief Minister commended them all for their team work that made Telangana an almost power-surplus state which sold Rs 250 crores worth of power in recent times by increasing power production. The government could irrigate 9 lakh acres in the old Mahabubnagar district through existing projects like Nettempadu, Kalwakurty, Bhima and others due to the power availability, he said, adding that Telangana had surpassed all the odds to became only the state to supply 24-hour power to the farm sector. The employees deserved the hike for their stellar work, he said.
The CM also said that the government would regularise contract electricity staff and fill up vacant posts to boost the department.
KCR also slammed all those who opposed statehood for the region painting a gloomy picture of no power if a separate Telangana state were to be created. Such leaders had themselves gone into the darkness now, and the state had turned number one in several sectors, he claimed.
