In-charge Chief Electoral Officer of Telangana Anoop Singh on Tuesday said that the names of 24,20,244 voters would be deleted from the electoral rolls as an electoral survey had found that they were not staying at the addresses provided by them.
The survey was conducted in 36 Assembly constituencies across Telangana, including 24 constituencies within the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) limits.
Addressing a press conference at the Secretariat, Singh said that 55,30,947 names were retained in the electoral roll, and 5,82,138 new electors had been added to it.
"Before the door-to-door survey, the total electorate was 1,09,44,968," he said.
The Election Commission has also asked the voters to file any claims and objections in these constituencies before December 31. A final electoral list will then be published on January 20.
"People can file claims and objections till December 31 through the Mee Seva / E-Seva centres in Adilabad, Karimnagar, Sangareddy, Patancheru, Mahabubnagar, Nalgonda, Ghanpur (Station), Parkal, Warangal East and West, Wardhannapet, Khammam and Palair, or directly on the website www.ceotelangana.nic.in. They can also file their claims at the special counters at the polling booths on December 17 and December 24," the CEO said.
The CEO further appealed to the electorate to provide the information accurately in all the columns of the Forms 6, 7, 8 and 8A.
