Vowing to make Hyderabad a slum-free city, Telangana IT minister K T Rama Rao, who is on cloud nine after a landslide victory for his Party in the GHMC elections, today said that the State government would construct free double bedroom houses for the families of Hamali Basthi in the city in six months.
"Our aim is to construct one lakh houses for the poor in the city," he reiterated.
Taking a directive from Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao, the minister toured the locality at Padmarao Nagar in Secunderabad along with minister Talasani Srinivas Yadav. Interacting with the local people on the occasion, KTR said, "We came here to ascertain your problems and address them at the earliest. After the GHMC election results, KCR asked us to meet you personally to find out your problems."
During the visit, the two ministers interacted with the people, and most of the women were seen urging them to provide permanent shelter as they were living in make-shift houses and huts that were in pathetic conditions. The IT minister looked at the houses and concurred. He promised to provide them houses on par with those in IDH colony in six months.
"Our ultimate aim is to make Hyderabad a slum-free city, and provide housing facility for one lakh poor people in the city. Some 800 families of Hamali Basthi will get houses in six months on the lines of IDH Colony," he said.
KTR also thanked the people for giving a thumping majority to the ruling Party in the civic body elections, and said the TRS would keep its manifesto promises and make the city a globally sought after destination.
