Deputy Chief Minister Mohammad Mahmood Ali today said that the new Gurukul schools set up for BC students would help them rise higher in their lives.
He was launching some of the schools - those of the Amberpet, Musheerabad and Chandrayana Gutta Assembly constituencies - at the HUDA complex in Saroornagar as part of the 119 Gurukul schools (one per Assembly constituency) being kicked off across the state, along with BC Welfare Minister Jogu Ramanna, Home Minister Nayani Narasimha Reddy and others.
Speaking on the occasion Ali said that Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao had come up with unique scheme to provide high quality English medium schools to the BC community children in the state. These schools were the first of their kind at the national level, and the Telangana government was spending about Rs 1 lakh per child each year through them, he claimed. The government's aim was that the children should become top class personalities like Phule and Abdul Kalam, he said.
Ramanna said that the Gurukul schools were offering education on par with that in corporate and private schools. As many as 3,200 teaching and 550 non-teaching staff were appointed for the purpose so far, and more regular teachers would be appointed soon through TSPSC, he said. Right now 30,000 students were joining these schools, and another 70,000 students were expected to join them soon. He expressed hope that the students from these schools would surpass the students of the Chaitanya and Narayana groups' schools.
Narasimha Reddy said that as promised in the TRS election manifesto, steps were being taken to launch free KG-to-PG education.
