TRS-Opposition Spar Over New Land Acquisition Bill
The Chief Minister rapped the Opposition parties for moving court against the Land Acquisition Amendment Bill and irrigation projects.

Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao today rapped the Opposition parties for moving court and "persistently working against" the Land Acquisition Amendment Bill, and the Mallanna Sagar reservoir and other irrigation projects.
The Chief Minister ridiculed that the Telangana Congress for the Land Acquisition Act 2013, and said that it needed amendments. He said that the bill would provide suitable compensation and rehabilitation to the villagers affected by reservoir projects or natural and manmade calamities.
In a debate during the session, KCR tried to convince that the State government, through the new Bill, would give 10 times the compensation recommended by the existing act besides giving Rs. 5.4 lakhs to the oustees to acquire 2BHK houses.
Stating that the State government had the necessary powers vested in it through Article 254 of the Constitution, he reiterated that they would complete the Mallanna Sagar works by 2017, and give Godavari waters to the entirety of Northern Telangana by 2018. The government would suppress the Opposition if it remained anti-social and stalled the developmental works in the state, he warned.
