A 'tatkal' scheme was started in Hyderabad, on Friday, for the authentication and attestation of certificates.
Certificates will be issued to those going abroad, for a fee of Rs. 500 per certificate, at a single window. The fee has been increased from Rs. 250 to Rs. 500.
The scheme was inaugurated by R M Gonela, Principal Secretary (Political), and the General Administration Department, in the presence of Chief Secretary S V Prasad.
Ravi Shankar, Joint Secretary (Ministry Of External Affairs) and N V Ramana Reddy, Special Secretary (Protocol, General Administration), were also present.
The attestation of certificates has 2 components. First, the state government attests certificates.
Then, a Ministry Of External Affairs official attests those certificates that are related to Hindu marriage, Muslim marriage, Christian marriage, general power of attorney, police clearance, birth and death certificates.
SSC, Intermediate and degree certificates are authenticated by the state government, in addition to the certificates of general nursing, midwifery and para medical courses.
A system for online application for attestation will be introduced shortly. A separate counter was opened at the Secretariat on Friday.
The centre was opened keeping in view the number of prospective immigrants swelling by the day, and will help applicants avoid going to New Delhi for securing the attestations. (INN)
