The A P State Muslim Wakf Board has been directed to file a comprehensive report on the properties it has been entrusted to safeguard, before the state Legislative Assembly Committee On Minority Welfare.
APLAC on Minority Welfare Chairman Shaik Mastan Vali issued the directions to the Wakf Board after a meeting on Wakf issues. Though no time-frame has been issued for filing of the report, Mastan Vali directed the board to file it as early as possible.
The Wakf Board has been asked to file the comprehensive report listing the properties entrusted to it, the number of properties which have been encroached, the properties under litigation in various courts, and the properties which are currently rented out.
The Wakf Board also has to submit the market value of all these properties.
Along with the details, the Wakf Board has to provide details about various court cases these properties are involved in.
The committee met at the Assembly premises to discuss the Wakf issues. Apart from calling for a comprehensive report on the Wakf properties, the committee members also decided to inspect Wakf properties in Ranga Reddy district.
The committee has decided to meet again in December to discuss the Wakf properties within city limits.
The decision to call for a comprehensive report came after MIM Floor Leader Akbaruddin Owaisi, MLCs Hafiz Peer Shabbir Ahmed and Ibrahim Bin Abdullah Masquati brought the attention of the committee members to alleged large scale irregularities taking place over the Wakf properties.
