A team of scholars and academicians from the Mississippi University visits the Osmania University.
A team of professors and academicians from Mississippi State University visited Osmania University, on Wednesday.
The visiting team discussed various issues, related to academics and research, with the Vice-Chancellor of Osmania - Prof. S Satyanarayana. The Mississippi State University team, led by Jerome A Gilbert, expressed the desire and interest to develop partnerships with Osmania University in teaching, research, and student-and-faculty-exchange programmes.
The team explored the possibilities of embarking on joint degree and joint post-graduate programmes, with provisions for two or three years of study in India, followed by two or three years of study at the Mississippi State University.
For his part, Osmania University Vice Chancellor Prof. S Satyanarayana explained to the team the various courses run by OU, and the quality of research work conducted by the scholars under the university's tutelage.
With a view to discuss relevant developments in the fields of fuel-efficient automobiles, unmanned vehicular systems, aerospace engineering, aircraft design, computational engineering, and fluid dynamics, the Mississippi State University team visited the University Engineering College, Centre for Plant Molecular Biology (CPMB), and the University College of Technology, OU, and interacted with the staff and the students in these institutions.
Jerome A Gilbert said that he was "very impressed" by the ongoing research at Osmania University.
The Mississippi State University team comprised K Raja Reddy (Professor, Dept. of Plan & Soil Sciences), J Mike Phillips, William Benjy Mikel, Gregory A Bohact, David R Shaw, and John P Rush.
Osmania registrar Prof. M S N Reddy, Prof. V Dashavanth Reddy, Prof. V S S Kumar, Prof. T Sankarshana, Prof. M Kumar, and Prof. Ch Sailu participated in the deliberations. (INN)
