The YSR Congress demanded relief for the people of the state languishing in Dubai jails, in the wake of the new labour laws that would be coming in to force soon in the country.
"The YSRCP delegation has visited Dubai and Nepal, and held discussions with the authorities concerned. On the instructions of our party president Y S Jaganmohan Reddy, we have announced that we will pay the dues of the poor residents of Sircilla, whose men are in Dubai jails," party leader K K Mahender Reddy told reporters on Saturday.
"As there was no positive response from the Union and the state governments, the party has taken a decision to provide legal support to the families who reside in Sircilla, and to take up the issue with a long-term perspective," he said.
He claimed that several leaders from Sircilla and Vemulawada had promised to help them earlier but it did not come through.
"Y S Jaganmohan Reddy had told our party's honorary president Y S Vijayamma that our party must take a positive stance to help them in every possible way. We plan to pay their dues to the Dubai government," he said, "We have taken up the process in all seriousness and are pursuing the cause."
"TRS leaders had suddenly came out of their slumber, and paid Rs. 15 lakh to the families who have to remit money to Dubai authorities to get their men back. We welcome this move, as our prime concern is the safety of the Telugu people in Dubai," he said.
However, Mahender Reddy asked the TRS not to "politicise" the Dubai issue. (INN)
