The YSR Congress Party on Saturday demanded a judicial probe into the TDP government hiring McKinsey & Company to oversee the governance of Andhra Pradesh.
Speaking to media persons, YSRCP spokesperson Vasireddy Padma alleged that Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu was back to his old ways of singing to the tunes of the World Bank and showing extra-territorial loyalty.
The GO issued by the TDP government had given the entire State on a platter to McKinsey, allowing its interference in governance and also in guiding the CRDA Bill, which was a move that belittled the State Assembly and the people.
"We demand a judicial inquiry to probe into such dubious deals, the amount being given to the foreign company and the terms of reference of the contract," she said.
Padma said that the GO issued on Friday had clearly mentioned that the global consultancy firm would play a vital role in guiding the high level committee on capital formation and would also help in the final drafting of the CREDA Bill, including the socio-economic planning, and it was understood that the Company will have a say in all matters of governance.
"This is nothing short of insulting the parliamentary democracy and putting the State assembly, the elected representatives and the people to shame by surrendering before an external agency on the issue of governance, more so the vital issue of capital formation. Chandrababu Naidu who boasted that Andhra Pradesh would be a gateway to development has turned it into a hunting ground for MNCs," she alleged. (INN)
