Reliance, named in an alleged conspiracy involving YSR's death, has said it would file a legal case against TV5 and that it will press the government for action. Spokespersons said it was a ploy to dent their business.
The DGP has said that violent attacks would lead to arrests, and said that the allegations made by the news channel are being investigated. CM Rosaiah has taken the law and order seriously, and joined the criticism against the news channels for irresponsible journalism.
Chiranjeevi said news channels should act responsibly and that publishing news without verification is unethical. He said a CBI enquiry was already under way and the spontaneous eruption of violence and emotions was unwarranted.
Meanwhile, other news channels have slammed TV5 and Sakshi for having reported news from what they call a sleazy tabloid. One local channel said it was against the principles of true journalism, and questioned as to why the news article was being aired at an irrelevant time. The Exile had published a conspiracy theory soon after YSR's death, saying it was not an accident but an act of sabotage.
