YSR Congress Party honorary president Y S Vijayamma, on Wednesday, accused the Congress and the government of hatching a conspiracy to send Kadapa MP Jaganmohan Reddy behind bars and out of the by-election campaign.
Addressing a massive rally for the first time after the
CBI's arrest of Jagan, at Narsannapeta constituency in Srikakulam district, Vijayamma claimed that the Congress, after damaging the image of former chief minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy, has now hatched a conspiracy to send Jagan out of the campaign, fearing defeat in the by-elections.
Vijayamma said that she would expose the "conspiracies" of both the ruling party - the Congress - and the opposition - the Telugu Desam Party - in the elections. She said she would seek votes on the schemes introduced by late leader YSR, which benefitted thousands of poor and middle class people and students.
Slamming the state government for diluting YSR's welfare schemes and programs, she said that the outcome of the by-elections would change the political map of the state.
She called upon the electorate to teach both the Congress and the TDP a lesson by voting in favour of YSR Congress candidates, and to support the party in bringing back the "golden rule of YSR".
Jagan's sister Sharmila also participated in the campaign. Earlier, Vijayamma took part in the road show held at Kommarthi. (INN)
