YSR Congress Party honorary president Y S Vijayamma, on Saturday, said that the Polavaram multi-purpose irrigation project would have materialized long ago if former chief minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy had lived longer.
Participating in the by-election campaign at Polavaram Constituency in West Godavari district, Vijayamma said that both East and West Godavari districts would have benefitted a lot if the Polavaram project were completed.
She said that she was proud of her husband Y S Rajasekhara Reddy, who, she said, helped farmers by introducing several schemes for their welfare.
She accused the state government of diluting YSR's welfare schemes citing financial implications.
Stating that the CBI's
arrest of her son Jaganmohan Reddy was illegal, she expressed confidence that Jagan would come out clean from the "baseless" allegations.
She said that she was campaigning in the by-elections to seek justice in the people's court, about Jagan's arrest.
Expressing doubts over YSR's death, she alleged that the CBI and other investigation agencies had sealed the probe hastily, without clearly establishing the reason for his death.
YSR's daughter Sharmila appealed to the electorate to vote for the YSR Congress party in order to bring back the golden regime of "Rajanna" (YSR). She also asked the voters to teach the Congress a lesson for disowning YSR, and to TDP chief N chandrababau Naidu for betraying his father-in-law and TDP founder N T Rama Rao. (INN)
