The CBI special court at Nampally, on Monday, extended the judicial remand of YSR Congress Party president Jaganmohan Reddy to 4 July.
The court took this decision when officials produced him in court via a video conference in Chanchalguda Jail, following expiry of his custody. He was arrested by the CBI for allegedly accumulating wealth through illegal means.
Earlier, the special court rejected Jagan's
memo, in which he asked that he be produced in court when his remand expires instead of conducting trial proceedings through video conferences.
Meanwhile, the special court also extended the remand of senior bureaucrat B P Acharya, an accused in the Emaar properties scam, to 4 July.
The CBI special court also adjourned the hearing on industrialist Nimmagadda Prasad's bail petition to 28 June. While adjourning his petition, the court asked the CBI to file a counter-petition in this regard.
The CBI had arrested Nimmagadda Prasad, the promoter of VANPIC project, in connection with the case of Jaganmohan Reddy's disproportionate assets. (INN)
