The indefinite hunger strike launched by YSR Congress Party president Y S Jaganmohan Reddy in Chanchalguda Jail entered its second day on Monday.
Jagan had begun his fast on Sunday morning, demanding that the Centre "maintain status quo" on Andhra Pradesh instead of dividing it.
Calling the Centre's decision "unilateral", he demanded that the Centre should maintain status quo if it is unable to do justice to all regions.
Jagan was examined by jail doctors on Monday morning, who found his condition to be stable, although he is said to have developed weakness. However, a medical bulletin is likely to be issued in the evening after another medical check-up.
However, jail authorities have not made any official statement on Jagan's hunger strike.
Meanwhile, the police took some women into custody for trying to assemble near the Chachalguda Jail building in support of Jagan's strike. The security around the jail premises has already been enhanced. (INN)
