Former minister and senior Congress leader from Rayalaseema J C Diwakar Reddy on Thursday stated that he doubted whether Y S Jaganmohan Reddy would be able to bring back the 'golden era' of the state witnessed during the rule of his father and former Chief Minister, Y S Rajasekhara Reddy.
Talking to media persons on the Assembly premises, Diwakar Reddy said that Jaganmohan Reddy's statement that he would usher in the 'golden period' of the state's history by implementing his father's schemes and programs in letter and in spirit would have to stand the test of time.
Diwakar Reddy said that the present Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy was working hard to implement the schemes initiated by the late Rajasekhara Reddy, despite the many obstacles, and that he doubted if Jaganmohan Reddy could perform the task better.
Referring to the alliance between the Congress and the Praja Rajyam Party (PRP), he said that PRP President K Chiranjeevi would have to clarify his stand, as to whether he would join the government or merge his party with the Congress, before meeting Sonia Gandhi.
"The high command will decide on the alliance with the PRP after taking into consideration all the factors in the state," Diwakar Reddy stated.
He also opined that the Congress' base in the Seemandhra regions would be strengthened with the support of Chiranjeevi who stood for an integrated Andhra Pradesh.
