Former minister J C Diwakar Reddy, on Saturday, appealed to the people of the Seemandhra region to refrain from getting involved in any kind of violence.
Speaking to media personnel in the Assembly premises, Diwakar Reddy said that the violence would cause further damage to the people of Seemandhra, and that they should keep their calm by accepting the reality of the bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh. He also said that consultations will be held with different groups to nominate a location for the new capital of the Seemandhra region.
Diwakar Reddy said that it was unfortunate that the people of Seemandhra would be forced to leave Hyderabad. He blamed the lack of unity among Seemandhra leaders for the present conditions.
Announcing that he would participate in the meeting convened by former Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy on Sunday, he claimed that the ex-CM had made sincere efforts to keep the state united. However, he said, the Congress party had still not taken the sentiments of the Seemandhra people into consideration before dividing the state.
Diwakar Reddy also predicted that the people would severely punish the Congress in the next elections. (INN)
