YSR Congress Party president Y S Jaganmohan Reddy began his Odarpu Yatra in Anantapur today.
The Odarpu Yatra, meant to console the kin of people who allegedly committed suicide on hearing news of Jagan's father and former Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy, is set to last for 10 days. Jagan will get in touch with 19 families during the course of this leg of the yatra.
The rally today saw an impressive turnout, and Jagan took the opportunity to exchange barbs with both the Congress and the TDP.
While his usual slamming of the reigning Congress government was in full flow, today's speech saw Jagan full-throatedly accusing Telugu Desam Party President Chandrababu Naidu of lacking ethics, to a loudly cheering audience.
Jagan alleged that the TDP is functioning in collusion with the Congress instead of behaving like the Opposition party that it is.
Chandrababu Naidu was quick to respond, at a separate function (in which about 300 BJP party workers were welcomed into the TDP) - he said Jagan was a "poisonous offshoot" of the "poisonous tree" that was the Congress.
